The Phil Day Science Park

The Year 2 children enjoyed getting the Phil Day Science Park ready for the official opening in June 2007 by the Mayor of Peterborough. They enjoy investigating the solar and wind powered toys during their weekly science lessons.

  • We painted these planters so they will last longer.
  • We used two types of compost in our planters.

  • We put a plastic layer in the bottom of our planters before we put the compost in.
  • This homeless wiggly worm was placed in our bug hotel.
  • Will the solar panel work when the helicopter is turned upside down?
  • Doesn't look like there is much wind to turn the turbine today.
  • When we turn the solar panel towards the sun the water fountain gets higher.
  • Is that worm still here?
  • We use the magnifying glasses to see if there are any ladybirds living here. We can take the outside temperature using this thermometer.
  • Wow! The sun must be producing lots of energy for the fountain to be that high!
  • The solar panel works much better when the helicopter is the right way up!
